Solar Subsidy in Kerala
Under current PM Surya Ghar guidance, eligible residential consumers may receive central financial assistance of ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the next 1 kW, capped at ₹78,000 for systems of 3 kW or more. Eligibility and release remain conditional on the current national portal, approved process, installation, inspection and DISCOM requirements.

Current residential assistance
For an eligible individual household, the current central assistance works out to ₹30,000 for 1 kW, ₹60,000 for 2 kW and ₹78,000 for 3 kW or more. These figures were checked against MNRE guidance on 21 September 2026 and must be rechecked on the official portal before a customer commits, because government rules can change.

Who may qualify
The central assistance described here is for eligible residential consumers, including the applicable individual-household route. A commercial connection, a battery purchase by itself, or a solar installation outside the approved process should not be presented as automatically eligible.
Application to commissioning
The customer registers through the applicable national/KSEB route, completes feasibility and vendor steps, proceeds with a compliant installation, submits completion evidence, and waits for inspection, commissioning and assistance processing. Exact screens, documents and sequence should be checked on the live portals before submission.
Documents to prepare
Common starting records include the latest electricity bill and consumer number, registered mobile and email details, required identity and bank information, roof photographs and property/site information. The portal or utility may request further records for the specific consumer category.
